In this project, we aimed to enhance medical professionals’ ability to accurately diagnose dermatological conditions, understand their causes, and provide appropriate treatment plans using AI. This led to the design of DermAIssist, a handheld embodied intelligent agent that can deliver a preliminary assessment of skin conditions through a supervised learning model that classifies images into three categories: Eczema, Psoriasis, and Tinea. Helping the patient become aware of potential triggers for the condition and assisting the doctor in determining the next steps for treatment.

 

This brought insights into designing embodied intelligent behaviors and how to promote trust in AI for users through design.
